How we work

In order to build a growing community of leaders, ANANDA VATIKA GREEN GURUKULAM has developed a two-part theory of change. In the short-term, through our Volunteer based program, we provide an opportunity to worlds brightest and most promising individuals, from the international universities and workplaces, to serve as part-time teachers to children from dam affected communities in some of the remote villages of Uttarakhand under-resourced schools.

Through this experience of teaching in classrooms and working with key education stakeholders like students, principals, and parents, our volunteers (journalists, lawyers, health experts, entrepreneurs, and corporate leaders)  get exposed to the grassroots realities of India’s education system and at the same time they get the window to know more about the himalayan culture and food.

In the long-term, we engage local teachers, and later on maybe our Alumni will support this growing community to advocate for change. Our local teachers work in diverse roles within the centre allocated as teacher for bridging the gaps in the afterschool and also host the volunteer teacher. Local teachers is being trained by the volunteer teachers and also by the Co Founder & Principal Anita Nautiyal during her stay in the particular centre, as well as in the environment of surrounding and supporting the education sector.
